23 Nov Zimbali is still top of the list.
Zimbali Coastal Resort is a catalytic project which set the wheels of residential estate development in motion. This was over 20 years ago, long before many had realized the wealth and value that lay in KZN’s North Coast and that it would become one of the most sought-after areas for residential investment in the country. As early adopter of the residential estate movement, Zimbali was one of the first in South Africa to introduce the concept to the market. What seemed strange at the time now makes perfect sense. South Africa has long been considered as one pf the pioneers of this movement, far exceeding other first-world countries in terms of number of residential estates. Up until recently, the USA was the only other country with more residential estates than South Africa, who might I add, has the 2nd highest number of residential estates globally! This trend is growing globally especially in young countries with few barriers to development, good infrastructure and large labour forces available such as the United Arab Emirates. Despite the talk of the economy taking a ‘downturn’ recent insight shows that in South Africa residential estate living is actually increasing. What’s even more noteworthy is that houses and apartments within estates have done better in terms of sales than regular freestanding homes in residential areas. One of the ways in which some residential estate developers attract a larger market share is by keeping up with trends which have been identified as the following: residential estates are now offering apartments and sectional title opportunities to their product mix; estates are becoming increasingly focused on the outdoor spaces, interaction with nature, green spaces and wildlife; developers are creating ‘micro’ neighbourhoods within the estate boundaries meaning dwellings are clustered into smaller groups scattered throughout an read thus allowing for more green communal spaces. The powerhouse brand that is Zimbali has gone from strength to strength and launched Zimbali Coastal Resort’s sister estate, Zimbali Lakes Resort, to the public in November 2017. The launch of this development was overwhelmingly successful and fetched sales to the tune of R600 million on launch night alone showing that the new estate’s intelligent design, residential product mix and facilities still compels the market. Zimbali Lakes Resort can owe it success in part to keeping abreast of these trends. As one of South Africa’s Top 3 residential estates Zimbali has cemented its reputation as a trendsetter in this space.
