The story of this home is one of new beginnings, a tale of reinvention. When the Strydom family bought this house, it lacked the quality and finishes the owners were looking for but they fell in love with the position on the fairway and the lush surroundings. Well known architect Ewald Plekker restructured and designed a brand new house with a combination of wood, steel, stone and glass and an interior in a subtle palette of tonal greys and creamy whites. The result was a functional, elegant house with an air of sophistication. Loads of natural light flood the home while every room opens up to the outside, ensuring interaction with nature at its best. The spacious interior boasts a sleek, minimalist kitchen, a dining room, 2 lounges with a fire place, a study area, 6 over sized bedrooms (all en suite), 3 garages and ample parking. The large pool is embraced by a lush garden and the pool deck connects with a large covered conservatory, overlooking the fairway. Indeed a haven for relaxation and entertainment under the canopy of mature trees.

Architect Ewald Plekker explains:
"Its was a lovely,rewarding and satisfying project. My vibrant client walked into my office and exclaimed that he had bought an 'ugly duckling' and needed a 'princess'. The challenge was on.
The old existing house was badly designed in terms of its spacial use and the relationship of walls to roofs and generally was not well thought out. To add to this it was a orange brown face brick house that colour clashed badly with the roof. The driveway was extremely steep and windy making the access and exiting from the house awkward .On getting to the house one was faced with blank walls and no sense of arrival or beauty of the natural indigenous planting.
My BRIEF was to turn it into a modern holiday home for himself and his extended family. After much thought I new what I had to do,
Split the house in half open up the central space with a double volume, create a double space glazing and link the two halves with a floating internal bridge.This I did, the result was amazing, on paper, I now had to build it.The build work would be difficult and challenging as the design called for me to break the bottom load bearing walls out, while still keeping the existing top floor intact, then build in steel beams and finish it all off one hundred percent. I invited JC BUILDERS Johanne Coetzee, one of the best if not best hands on builders I have ever known to price the job.The rest is history. 18 months later the house was completely transformed."
